Hinnomaki Red Gooseberry is heavy yielding and easy to grow fruit bush. It produces large, red gooseberries in early summer that are tart, yet sweet and juicy, and ideal for eating fresh or cooking with. This is one of the easiest-to-grow gooseberry varieties. Does best in full sun or partial shade. It requires slightly acidic soil that is fertile and moist, but free-draining. Being quite a large gooseberry, it requires space to thrive and should be planted out with 5 feet between plants. Wildlife friendly as berries are enjoyed by birds.
